thank you Aditi Ray for sharing your views and comments. A special thanks for throwing light on the entire incident.

Just for the sake of publicity, cheap tactics are followed. Even parents, for the sake of fame and money pressurize their kids to the maximum extent.

hope this incident teaches us all a good lesson.

Agree with your blog.

Quite coincidentally I had happened to watch a few minutes of the  episode telecast in E TV Bangla just when these judges were giving the tongue-lashing at this very  girl. I did not watch her perform, but heard just the judges , and because of the rude and insensitive comments that they were making , three of them , one after another, as if on cue, made me pause at the channel wondering for a while .... one judge told her in Bengali "What do you think? How dare you come here without any talent, do you think anybody and everybody can waste our time just because you want that Rs 2 lakh that badly?" I remember  commenting to my husband even then that how can these judges speak to a contestant like that...it was a direct hit below the belt ...look at the public humilation.... if the judges did not like the performance, there was a way of breaking the news... just because they were the 'judge' did not make them get away with character assassination.

The girl was just a teenager. Despite doctors bringing in the 'viral attack' angle behind the paralysis,  the psychosomatic trauma she would have faced at this public humilation on TV at a tender age could have well been the last straw.

I think the judges should be dragged to court as well, not only the channel for allowing it. This should be the lesson for all channels, and parents eager for the 5 minutes of fame in TV.

thank you CaravanBpl for your comments. Every word of your comment is worth reading.

At the least, we can stop such shows being conducted for kids. this can be labeled as child labor also! I am not sure what will happen.

Now people will pounce on the show-managers, the parents and increase all their worries however, the damage what made is made and there will be none to rectify it!

We are always reactive! yep! you rightly said, "Krazy kiya re...."

Dear GK
I agree with your assumption that this would have been the proverbial last straw that broke the tender-aged contestant. Parental pressure and inability to cope with rejection (and its aftermath) are taking their toll.
These shows are slowly getting reduced to a sham (and most would be eligible to be showcased in the "Hall of shame"!) - as every channel is scrambling to be on the bandwagon - nothing succeeds like success (and nothing is more harmful than excess!)...
Everything is scripted to the smallest tear-drop - and what with wild-card re-entries etc the contestants' emotions are being taken for a ride everyday! maybe one of the recent show's title sums it up "Krazy Kiya Re.."
